PRESS RELEASE (summary):
Pegasos has no affiliation with Exit International or the Last Resort (Sarco). Since our decision not to partner on Sarco, due to ethical and legal concerns, Philip Nitschke and Fiona Stewart of Exit International have been spreading false information about Pegasos. Despite Pegasos’ initial silence, they now feel compelled to respond to these slanders, especially regarding a deceased woman, Jennifer.
Jennifer, set to be the first user of Sarco, suffered profoundly. Mr. Hehli from NZZ newspaper documented her horrendous experience with Exit. Exit International, in response, started a smear campaign against Jennifer, wrongly labeling her mentally unstable and reporting her as missing.
Abandoned in Zermatt due to legal issues with Sarco, Jennifer sought Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) from established Swiss organizations. Pegasos eventually provided her VAD services free of charge due to her severe health issues and financial distress. Jennifer’s extensive medical records and psychiatric evaluations confirmed her full mental capacity. Pegasos emphasizes that those who mistreat patients like Jennifer have no place in the compassionate care field.
