To all the Pegasos team that we met in person and online.

M, Ruedi and all the many staff doing their great work quietly in the background,

I’m writing this email on behalf of D. and myself.

Thank you,  thank you.
What a wonderful organisation Pegasos is.

From D’s first contact with you, to taking his final breath, the process was dealt with in such a compassionate and dignified manner.

D was alive but had no quality of life, and he was deteriorating quite quickly.

He was a man that always liked to be in charge of his life and this included when he would die.

He was very caring, compassionate, and generous and my best friend for 38 years…my rock.

He would never have coped with suffering out his final weeks, months or years in a hospital or nursing home, and I wouldn’t have coped either.

I want to say thank you to all of you for letting him pass so peacefully,  with dignity and  compassion.

I think the only thing that I wonder about is, did I say enough to him on the day before he passed.. I didn’t realise how quick it would be.

I am very grateful to J. for accompanying me, she was amazing. I could never have made that journey without her.

I will close now with a last thank you from D. for letting him die with dignity, respect and compassion,  and for me to see him peaceful.

May he rest in peace.

You will always be in my thoughts.
